White Christmas?
We had some white stuff fall last night. Not too much, but enough to cancel school and make Pocket Edward want to go out and explore. He says it is easier to track game!

O Christmas Tree!
We came home with a Christmas Tree from our local Soroptomist Group's Festival of Trees and auction. It was a very successful year for the auction. Bidding was fierce and there were many beautiful trees and wreaths. The tree that the Miller Tree Inn sponsored received the "People's Choice Award." The tree which we purchased is called "All that Glitters." It is a lovely tree dressed in blue and silver ornaments and sponsored by Ron's Food Mart. Thank you Soroptomists for another outstanding holiday event. The Miller Tree Inn is now mostly ready for Christmas. We still need to get our outside lights and wreaths up.

December in Forks!
The Cherish our Children dinner and auction was a huge success this weekend and our guests enjoyed the Twinkle Light Parade and Moonlight Madness last night.
Here at the Miller Tree Inn, we have most of our Christmas decorations up. The tree we will be buying at the Festival of Trees next Sunday. The beautifully decorated trees will be up for viewing at the Congregational Church next Saturday and Sunday. There will be music and Christmas cookies available while you look at the trees. Then on Sunday at 1PM, the tree auction begins. Come on over, stay with us and enjoy the trees next weekend. You can let us know which tree you think we should buy.
This year we added one more Christmas stocking to the fireplace. Who do you think we added?

Back Home to the Miller Tree Inn
The Miller Tree Inn innkeepers took Pocket Edward to the annual Washington State Bed and Breakfast Guild Conference this week. This year the conference was at the Kitsap County Convention Center in Bremerton. We are not sure if Pocket Edward learned anything new, but the innkeepers certainly did!
We were treated to interesting and inspirational talks by many Bed and Breakfast and tourism professionals and it was a great way to network with innkeepers from all over the state as well as one innkeeper from Missouri! We were also able to keep up with what is new in website marketing and products to use in our bed and breakfast to make our guests happier and more comfortable.
We returned to some beautiful Forks weather! It is a treat to see the sunshine and blue sky in November and we will not take it for granted.
Pocket Edward and all of us at the Miller Tree Inn (aka, the Cullen House) are anxiously awaiting the premier of Breaking Dawn II! We hope to see many of you next week and talk to you about your opinions of the last "Twilight" movie!

August has a reputation for lots of fog and this year is no exception. We have been starting out with low morning fog that burns off in the afternoon. It has been keeping our days cool, but pleasant.
Due to a cancellation, we have 1 room available this coming Wednesday, August 22 and then good availability the last week of August just prior to the Labor Day weekend. We would love to have you join us.

"Foggest in Forks"
We took this picture this morning before breakfast from the front porch of the Miller Tree Inn. It shows why we call this month "foggest" instead of August. It is lovely and sunny and in the 70's now. We think that is about perfect! West End Thunder is holding Drag Races at the airport this weekend. Come on over and check it out.

Large Cedar Tree near Lake Quinault
This week we took Pocket Edward on a hike to see a very large cedar tree just off of the North Shore Road at Lake Quinault. It is a beautiful walk through a lush forest to see this very large tree. Spectacular on a sunny day with the suns rays making their way through the canopy of branches. Not so good if the sun causes you to sparkle...This short hike is about an hour and a half away from the Miller Tree Inn.

Parmesan Baked Eggs
Monday, June 4, 2012
We had Parmesan Baked Eggs for breakfast the other morning and were asked for the recipe.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray individual ramekins with cooking oil. Spray the same number of ramekins as you want eggs. Crack one egg into each ramekin. Measure one Tablespoon of half and half and pour on top of each egg. Measure 1 Tablespoon of Parmesan cheese and put on top of the egg with half and half. Put ramekins in pre-heated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until the egg whites are cooked and set. When finished baking, we scoop out and serve over hashed browns. When cooking a number of eggs, we have also used a muffin tin instead of individual ramekins. Whichever is used, it is important to spray the container well, so that the eggs come out easily. Enjoy!

April 28, 2012
With all the rain that we have had this spring, if April showers bring May flowers then by this time next week we should have a million of them! In the meantime we have been enjoying these daffodils that we can see out our kitchen window while making breakfast for our guests at the Miller Tree Inn.

Happy Easter everyone!
Do you suppose these little guys will be served for Easter breakfast at the Miller Tree Inn?
To make the bunnies, hard boil some eggs, cool and peel. Thinly slice baby carrots for the ears and a few pieces for the noses. We used mustard seeds for eyes and little cauliflower pieces for the tails.

Pocket Edward Retiring?
March 31, 2012
Pocket Edward, retiring? Say it isn't so! The current and familiar Pocket Edward is going to take a well deserved break. The paint has been chipping off his nose and his foot has been superglued back on, so we decided to let him rest in his little bed and wait for his Pocket Bella. (He is also wanting to stay home and await a visit from a traveling Pocket Jacob). A new Pocket Edward will be introduced sometime this spring. Stay tuned for the travels of the new Pocket Edward!

We had Orange Croissant French Toast Today!
Monday, February 20, 2012
The remodel project continues with wall texturing, but downstairs in the kitchen we had something good cooking at the Miller Tree Inn. Today's breakfast was Orange Croissant French Toast and we recently had a request for this recipe, so here it is:
Combine 2 beaten eggs with 4 Tablespoons of orange juice (fresh squeezed is best) and 1/2 teaspoon orange zest.
Cut croissants in half like you would for a sandwich. Dip in the mixture above and cook on a hot griddle until golden brown on both sides.
We serve with a spoonful of heated berries and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Then we offer our orange syrup to top it of (the recipe for the orange syrup can be found on an earlier blog entry.)
Enjoy!
