Happy 4th of July!

Tomorrow is Independence Day and we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!

This year, due to dry conditions, the 4th of July fireworks show has been cancelled and the West End Little League is not selling fireworks as their fundraiser.  They are preselling Demo Derby tickets and there is a donation can available to donate to the Little League.  Last weekend there was a wildfire at Rialto Beach, we do not want a repeat of that or anything fire related to happen in town.  Please use caution and do not use fireworks this year.

All the other 4th of July activities are in full swing from the Art Show on to Kiddies Play Day.  There is a list of events, times and places on the Chamber of Commerce Website at:  www.forkswa.com

Since we have been decorated patriotically since Memorial Day, we are definitely ready for the 4th.  Yesterday we did do a little rearranging in our common area and have a new conversation area by the front window.  We have gotten some positive feedback from last night's guests. 

The 4th of July is Just Around the Corner

The 4th of July is just around the corner and Forks will be doing it right from the parade, to the salmon bake to the demo derby and beyond.  We are a little unclear about whether or not the fireworks will be on as it has been warm and dry here.  There is a burn ban in and around Forks, so we ask anyone and everyone to be careful with fireworks.  There was even a fire down at Rialto Beach last night.  Please be cautious.

Our roses have been loving the warm, sunny weather and the residents of Forks and vicinity have been enjoying it, too.

Though we are currently full to the brim over the 4th of July weekend, we still have availability July 1 and July 5.  Come on over.  We'd love to see you.

Red, White and Blue at the Miller Tree Inn

Today begins Memorial Day weekend, the traditional kick off of the summer season.  It means so much more to us than that.  We are very appreciative of the sacrifices that members of the armed services and their families have made on the behalf of our nation and our citizens.  I am proud to say that my Dad served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.  Not a day goes by that we don't miss him.  Thanks, Dad!

The colors will stay up as we celebrate Flag Day on June 14 and the 4th of July, our nation's birthday.  Here in Forks, the 4th is our town's annual big celebration.  There will be a parade, salmon BBQ, Demo Derby, games in the park and fireworks to end the day.  There is always an arts and crafts show, fun run and kids play day during the weekend.  Come on over and help us celebrate!  As of today (May 22) we still have a few rooms left scattered throughout the weekend.

The "Tourists of the Day" for our Old Fashioned 4th of July Festival stayed with us at the "Cullen House" aka the Miller Tree Inn. They came to us from Pearcedale, Australia. Our local Chamber of Commerce Director came and interviewed them this morning over our traditional 4th of July fare, "Red, White and Blueberry French Toast." After breakfast they were driven down main street in our parade, were given tickets to the Lion's Club Salmon Bake and Demolition Derby. Fireworks at dusk will complete their day and they will enjoy the many gifts that the merchants of Forks put together for them.

We were able to take Pocket Edward to the Parade today. It was cloudy and misty, just like he likes it. He spent most of the day hanging out under our umbrella.

The 4th of July was hot and sunny in Forks, so the Cullen family remained indoors until fireworks time. The rest of the town of Forks took in the parade, salmon BBQ, demolition derby and the fireworks. The fireworks sparkled just like the Cullens in the sunshine!
