Tracking in Eastern Washington

Though it is cold here and we had a few tiny snowflakes, last night, we have nothing on Eastern Washington.  We took Pocket Edward on a road trip to let him track a little in the snowy mountains.  Our car thermometer read  about 13 degrees at one of its lowest points.  The skies were blue the snow on the mountains and trees were lovely.  And Pocket Edward did not feel the cold, of course.

White Christmas?

We had some white stuff fall last night.  Not too much, but enough to cancel school and make Pocket Edward want to go out and explore.  He says it is easier to track game!

Meet Our Newest Employee!

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Our guests, Greg and Hope, built our newest employee for us in the 12+ inches of snow that we have in Forks. Our new snowwoman is waving at any who come by the Miller Tree Inn. Hopefully all of us on the inside of the inn are just as friendly.

SNOW!

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

This is the view out of the Miller Tree Inn (aka, Cullen House) kitchen window this morning. More snow coming tonight and tomorrow before we get higher temperatures back on Thursday. The Cullens will not be sparkling today. Perhaps they are out hiking with snowshoes...

Still snow at the Miller Tree Inn. Here is the view out of our kitchen window. More expected today and then higher temperatures by Thursday and turning to rain.

It is Snowy in Forks!

Sunday, January 15, 2012

We had about 6 inches of snow last night, so Pocket Edward went out on the porch of the Miller Tree Inn to enjoy the snowy view!

Wicked March Weather

March 8, 2009

We hope that the old saying "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb," is true. Yesterday we woke up to freezing temperatures and then it proceeded to hail and snow. There was a little sun and a little wind thrown into the mix before we ended with a little more snow and freezing temps overnight. Our snow drops and primroses are having a hard time adjusting to the ever changing weather. Today is beautiful and sunny. Alas, not a good day for vampire spotting.

Snowshoe Hiking

More snowfall yesterday proved to be irresistible to the Cullens. They are taking advantage of it by going for a snowshoe hike in the Olympic Mountains.

The Snow is Gone

The snow is mostly melted around the house making driving to Forks much easier. There was a little snow mixed in with the rain today and some hail, wind and sunshine. The elk are sensing that the Cullens or their friends are nearby, as we haven't seen them in the fields for several days.

It's still snowing!

Merry day after Christmas! At this minute, it is still snowing in Forks. It is supposed to turn to rain later today and tomorrow, but it is snowing right now!

We took the day off from shoveling snow yesterday, so Edward has been helping the innkeeper shovel the driveway and walkways today. Edward's superior strength and speed make the task go so much quicker! He looks so handsome in his leather jacket, too.

Elk in the Field

This morning, December 16, it was cold and clear outside and our neighborhood herd of elk were grazing in the farmer's field next door. The Cullens are gone for the holidays, otherwise the herd would not have ventured so close!

We had a fierce wind the last couple of days. It tore down the "Cullen's Night Before Christmas," off of the front porch. We are expecting more winds tonight, so we put the poem back up in the front window. It is protected, but can still be seen and read from the outside. There could be more snow and ice tomorrow. Since school is still in session until Friday, December 19, Bella should be careful in the school parking lot!
