Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction

We were reminded last week that the annual Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction is coming up on March 18 and 19. It is fun and one of our favorite weekends of the year. The auction is live at Forks High School and is broadcast through our local radio station, so folks can call in their bids. Hopefully items will be pictured on line, so people can participate that way. All money raised at the auction during that weekend is given in scholarships. All students graduating from Forks High School or the Quileute Tribal School are eligible for scholarships. The students and scholarship committee hope to raise $92,000 at this year's auction.
Local businesses and individuals donate items for the auction. Items might include smoked fish, a pie, quilts, furniture, a car, etc.
Typically, the Miller Tree Inn donates a breakfast for 4 at the Inn, and some baked goods for the auction. There will be hundreds of items to bid on.
This year, we are especially committed to making the auction a success. Innkeeper, Bill is a member of the Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction Committee, and was a scholarship recipient back in 1973. Our niece is one of the student chair persons and 2 of our employees are graduating this spring and will be eligible for scholarships
During the auction, the Senior Parents operate a concessions booth with all sorts of food items, so you don't have to leave the auction to go to breakfast, lunch or dinner! The funds from the concession stand go towards Senior Safe Night, providing a safe party and celebration on graduation night.
The Miller Tree Inn, still has many rooms available for the Scholarship Auction Weekend. Come join the fun on March 18 & 19 and help out our graduating seniors earn scholarship money. It is a win, for everyone!
